Writing Support ServicesThe goal of our Writing Support Services is to help you develop and refine your academic writing skills. Different levels of support are available in both one-on-one and small group settings and are designed to meet a variety of academic writing needs. Note: Peer Mentors and Writing Assistants DO NOT proofread or edit papers. To do so is a breach of Academic Integrity. However, both services will help you learn to edit your own work to become a better writer and proof-reader. Whom should I see? Your needs will determine which level of support is best for you. To help you decide, a detailed comparison of Peer Mentors and Writing Assistants is provided:
Writing AssistantsTrained Writing Assistants are available to provide help with particular assignments or specific questions related to academic writing. Be sure to bring your assignment with you to your appointment, focusing on specific questions or areas of the assignment requiring the most support. Office hours are now on a break for the summer but will return in September 2012. Please check back for more information, or visit the Student Success Centre in Gilmour Hall 110. The Writing Process WorkshopThe Writing Process Workshop will help you prepare and write any university assignment or essay. Joanne Buckley, author of Fit to Print: The Canadian Student’s Guide to Writing Essays, will be facilitating this workshop and will guide you through the writing process, from drafting an outline to revising the essay. Bring along your first essay assignment to the session. You can attend as many sessions as you wish, as this will help you complete your assignments on time and get any assistance you need from the workshops. There are no workshops currently scheduled.
