First-Year Student Success Challenge (Winter 2021)
Complete six challenges. Feel good about yourself. Earn $50.
When we chat with McMaster students, especially upper-year students, they often tell us that they wish they had discovered our programs and services earlier. The Student Success Challenge is your chance to get to know us and our services early on in your university career. From your first year up until ten years after you graduate, we’ll be there by your side (even if it’s from six feet apart) if you need help.
This year, we’re hosting the Student Success Challenge on the Presence platform (you’ll remember it from Welcome Week). The instructions and information on this page is meant to help guide you as you select and complete your six challenges to earn your prize.
Why complete the Student Success Challenge?
- Try new things.
- Explore the McMaster community.
- Get to know staff and services dedicated to your success.
- Prepare to start your second year with more confidence.
- Develop skills in areas that interest you.
The first 50 first-year students who complete the Challenge will receive a $50 Campus Store gift card and get chances to win additional prizes!

Let us know you’re up for the Challenge before you get started. Then, you’ll be entered for a chance to win prizes throughout the Challenge and receive your reward when you’re done.

- Financial wellness
Note: After each challenge you complete, you need to let us know by visiting the confirmation link on each challenge page.
After you fill out the form to confirm you’ve completed the Challenge, we’ll invite you to chat about your experience with an SSC staff member. To receive the $50 prize, you must attend one of the dates provided.
