Soapstone Carving Workshop

Indigenous Students and Studies Event

Join the IS&S rep team and Six Nations professional soapstone carver, David Paul Thomas, in learning about the significance of soapstone, and carving your very own soapstone creation! No experience required, all students welcome, snacks, refreshments, and all equipment and materials provided.

Cooking Night with Chef Daryl Chezzi

Indigenous Students and Studies Event

Join your IS&S reps and third year Anishinaabe Social Work student Daryl Chezzi in learning cooking skills and working together in the Indigenous Studies kitchen, to make a culinary creation, inspired by traditional Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee dishes.

Welcome Week Sleepover

Off-Campus/ Commuter Student Event

Don’t want to go home? We don’t blame you! Stick around after the campus-wide movie night and headphone disco for the ultimate slumber party! Bring a pillow and blanket, plus toiletries anytime you get to campus on Tuesday and we will store it for you. We will have snacks, activities, and the whole gym floor for you to sleep on!

This is one of our most popular events and you sure don’t want to miss it! We even provide breakfast the next day!

Paint Night

Strategic Theme Event

Come join us for a fun night of painting, pizza and good conversation. Get a chance to unwind and paint while meeting new people and making long lasting friendships! Whether you’ve painted for years or have never lifted up a paintbrush before, join Spark for some good music, company and show a little of your artistic side. Pizza will be first-come first-serve and you’ll get to keep your painting afterwards!

Paint Night (SocSci, Humanities and Engineering)

This event encourages students to get to know one another through a relaxed painting event. Students in the Engineering, Social Sciences, and Humanities Faculties will come together to enjoy snacks and hang out. We will have a rep leading an art demonstration showing artists of all skill levels how to paint a planned painting! Feel free to follow along or make your own creation!

Join your fellow BHSc students under a starry night sky as you ask Pathogens about common BHSc questions, concerns, and myths. Engage in conversations, listen and relax, or enjoy some popcorn as you get to know your classmates and reps. The night will finish with an outdoor coffeehouse where you can sing, dance, and show your talent! If performing is not your cup of tea, you can enjoy the performances of your fellow BHSc students.

Strategic Theme Event

Watch a movie with the class of 2023 outdoors on a giant inflatable screen under the stars. We will be talking about some important themes going into your first year such as relationships, mental wellness, and more! We will have free blankets for the first 200 attendees and all the popcorn you could ever dream of! All first-year students living in residence, off-campus, or commuting are welcome to attend!

Join us for the ultimate silent party! Dance the night away with amazing DJ’s as you control your headset! This will be free for ALL McMaster University first years with a MacPass.

All students must present a valid McMaster undergraduate student card and MacPass at the gates.
