Get to know your Faculty and peers at this on-campus event. Faculties are gathered in one central location to take you on campus tours, answer your academic questions and attend academic workshops that will help you prepare to start classes.

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Meet at Camp ArtSci (in front of McMaster Museum of Art)

Join the Arts & Science program for a fun-packed day at Faculty Fest. Experience a taste of Artsci experiential learning with an off-campus excursion:

Trip to Historic Dundas: Love literature? Chronic coffee drinker? The second excursion is a first year favourite to the Printed Word bookstore in Dundas, followed by a visit to the Detour Cafe! There will be the option to purchase food on the tour.

A Stroll Through Westdale

Meet at Camp ArtSci (in front of McMaster Museum of Art)

Join ArtSci reps on a walking tour through the neighbourhood Mac students call home!

Cooking Class

3:00 p.m.

BSB Main Stairway

We will be hosting a residence friendly cooking class to help students learn to make quick options for themselves as they get adjusted to living on their own for the first time. We will be teaching students a simple recipe for mac and cheese and for mug brownies that can both be done with just a few simple ingredients and a microwave!

Faculty Fest highlights everything McMaster Engineering has to offer! Feel free to wander around and find what you like. Clubs and teams will be set up around JHE and inside Hatch to answer your questions. A petting zoo we will be available outside and tours will be running to help you find your classes.

Speed Networking

This event is a chance to meet various faces in Mac Eng and ask them about their time at McMaster. Professors, teaching assistants, upper-year students and more will be present to answer any of your burning questions. This event is an amazing opportunity to learn about what Mac has to offer as you start your journey here.

LR Wilson (LRW) 1507

Come to LR Wilson 1507 to Humanities Faculty Fest! Get to know some professors in your prospective department. Speak with some of our representatives about your classes! The McMaster Humanities Society will have information about getting involved in your first-year. Academic advising will have information on some cool opportunities for you during your undergrad!

Mental Health and Wellness Programming with Social Sciences

10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

LR Wilson (LRW) Hall 1003 and 1057

The Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences, invites students to de-stress with instructor-led yoga classes, therapy dogs, guest speakers, and free care packages! Come learn about the important role mental health plays in maintaining overall wellness, as well as succeeding in your university career.

Burke Science Building (BSB) Field and various lecture halls and tutorials

This will be an opportunity for the new Kinesiology students to mingle and hang out while enjoying slackline, spikeball, and other activities. They will also have a chance to receive swag bags and buy other Kinesiology apparel, and go on guided Lab tours! Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen!

Cootes Paradise and Tiffany Falls

Yellow Suits will be taking groups to Cootes Paradise to experience the nature in Mac’s backyard and will also use the HSR Buses to explore Tiffany Falls, one of Hamilton’s beautiful waterfalls. Our friends from Kinesiology will be joining us! This event is a chance to mingle, meet friends from outside your Faculty and explore the astounding sites Hamilton has to offer.

Burke Science Building (BSB)/John Hodgins Engineering (JHE) Field (If raining, in BSB building)

This informative event hosted by MUNSS is an opportunity to meet and connect with members of the MUNSS executive as well as faculty members who would love to meet you and answer your questions! You can learn all about what MUNSS has to offer you and ways you can be involved. They will be accompanied by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) – these organizations are vital to your nursing career and can answer any questions you have related to nursing in the future!

For Faculty Fest, we will have program-specific professors come in to tell you how you can be successful, in terms of studying, test-taking, courses and subjects. Faculty Fest will have Program Booths on BSB Field with your entry-level program to answer any questions that you may have. We will have a number of sessions running throughout the day, such as How to Survive First Year, Getting Involved in Science, and a special guest speaker coming to talk about coping with mental stress in university. Want something a little more hands-on? We have a reptile zoo all day and a yoga class in the morning!

Faculty Fest is a great opportunity to get to know more students in Social Sciences! We will have a question and answer period with reps and their respective programs, past examples of midterms and course outlines and more. There will also be events going on with Humanities and Social Sciences including yoga, therapy dogs, a contest and free swag!

Hamilton is the waterfall capital of the world! During this event there will be going on a waterfall tour of Webster Falls. We will be bussing to the location to make sure to set up your presto passes prior!
