Join us as all of McMaster proudly comes together to #endcf for a day of fundraising and raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis in the Hamilton community.

SSC Academics: Note-Taking
for University

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
CNH 104

This workshop will prepare you for university lectures by introducing a variety of effective note-taking strategies. With real examples you will learn how to actively listen for key points and summarize main ideas, preparing more meaningful and effective study notes. This session also includes a mock lecture by Dr. Rosa da Silva.

For students with disabilities, this session will cover information about learning strategies.

SSC Academics: Using the
Libraries

2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
TSH 120

Think libraries are just for reading? Think again! As you start university, libraries will become your home away from home. But how do you use them? What are the untold secrets of McMaster Libraries? Come to this session to find out what the libraries have to offer and how to be a library pro.

For students with disabilities, this session will cover information about Library Accessibility Services.

SSC Academics: Communicating with Professors

2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
CNH 104

Scared to talk to a prof? Unsure how to email? As a university student, you will need to visit office hours, ask questions, and send emails, and you need to do all of these things appropriately. Come hear from a panel of McMaster faculty as share their advice for professor communication.

For students with disabilities, this session will cover communicating about academic accommodations.

MacFactor: McMaster’s Annual
Music Event

4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
BSB Field

Enjoy a delicious BBQ and take part in McMaster’s annual music event, MacFactor. Each residence and off-campus community will perform a musical rendition of a unique song that they have created and practiced since the start of Welcome Week. The event will be closed with a performance by Macapella, a talented McMaster acapella group. If you are interested in representing your residence or off-campus group in MacFactor, stay tuned for more details during opening ceremonies at the start of Welcome Week.

MacPass
Concert

7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
JHE Field

We are pleased to announce this year’s Welcome Week headliner – Majid Jordan! This Canadian R&B duo, signed to OVO Sound, sure know how to put on a show! This concert is ONLY open to ALL McMaster University undergraduates. Students must present either their MacPass wristband OR an upper year ticket, as well as a valid McMaster undergraduate student card at the gates.

The Grind

What’s a MUSC? Where is Avenue to Learn? I can’t seem to find it on Google Maps? You’ve got questions, and we’ve got answers! Come hang out with us at the Grind, our campus cafe, and our upper year student mentors will teach you all the tips and tricks of being a Mac student to help you in your personal and academic student life!  Please register on OSCARplus for one session.

Campfire with Engineering and Nursing

8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Altitude Fire Pit

Yellowsuits (Nursing) and Redsuits (Engineers) will meet you at your residence at 7:30 p.m. to take you to the campfire pit located near Les Prince Hall (by the climbing tower). There will also be reps picking up from IAHS and the atrium of the student centre (MUSC). Meet new friends with our allies in Engineering while you roast marshmallows and spider dogs!
