To raise awareness of the importance of volunteering and to connect students with local, national and international volunteering opportunities. 

Responsibilties 

• Create promotional materials, workshops, and outreach initiatives.  
• Connect students with volunteer opportunities on and off campus via one-on-one meetings and online connection forms.  
• Act as a resource to students and a support to groups of students (i.e. athletic teams and clubs) interested in team volunteering. 
• Develop new ideas and approaches to outreach to students regarding the volunteer appointments and events offered by the Student Success Centre.
• Plan, create and execute new ideas.
• Develop timelines and project plans with minimal supervision.
• Keep track of trends and common questions to develop new material.

About the role

Meet with students in one-on-one appointments to gather information about career areas of interest and provide resources for successful connections.

Responsibilties

• Meet with students in one-on-one appointments to gather information about career areas of interest and provide resources for successful connections  
• Represent the Student Success Centre at campus events where possible  
• Research professional events/networking session for promotional purposes as well as trends in experiential learning  
• Create and lead workshops/sessions around experiential opportunities and programs. As well as crafting strategic strategic follow up  
• Tasks associated with this position might occur in the Student Success Centre, but also in other location like a classroom or student lounge where the PA will be responsible for themselves and the way in which they represent the Student Success Centre

About the role

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, International (Undergrad) raise awareness and communicate the value of the International Student Work Program to international students.  

Responsibilties

• Create and review promotional materials such as PowerPoint presentations and tip sheets for workshops, outreach initiatives and one-on-one appointments  
• Communicate program objectives and eligibility to prospective applicants through an interpersonal approach  
• Educate students on the value of gained work experience  
• Demonstrate the application process, while addressing common questions and barriers  
• Respond to general applications questions through workshops, virtual drop-ins and one-on-one appointments  
• Act as a program ambassador to students and diverse international student populations by working directly with student clubs and societies, and campus stakeholders  
• Report trends, common questions and barriers in response to program outreach  
• Develop, execute and assess new ideas and approaches to outreach

• The applicant is a former or current ISWO participant who understands the cycle of the ISWO program through lived experience.
• The applicant is familiar with the Career Access Professional Services (CAPS).

Responsibilties

• One-on-one meetings (virtual or in person) with first, second, & third year students to help with resume, cover letter & LinkedIn development and p/t and summer job search.  
• Facilitate or co-facilitate employment preparation presentations/workshops.  
• Guide students to resources, services and events offered through Student Success Centre.  

Potential Outreach Projects

• Work in pairs/small groups on career education outreach initiatives  
• Assist with Ask Me Anything in Res outreach & at various locat ions on Campus

About the role

Academic peer mentors are trained using Appreciative Advising theory and other supplementary research-based best practices, in order to provide support for undergrad students who are seeking to develop their academic and personal management skills (study practices, time management and procrastination, motivation, note-taking, goal setting, reading actively, etc)

Responsibilties

• They will provide referrals to on-campus services as needed.
• They will follow procedures to establish and maintain rapport with students, in order to ensure they continue with the program. 
• They will update and maintain routine records relating to student meetings and action items. 
• Volunteers must have a strong academic record with an A- (10) or above.

• Represent the global experience team at on-campus student events, including but not limited to club’s fest, orientation events, exchange fair, etc. 
• Connect with students through one-on-one peer advising appointments in person or online, offering exchange program information 
• Triage student requests for information 
• Act as a resource and support to students interested in the exchange program 
• Conduct classroom visits/ presentations 
• Create outreach materials and initiatives 
• Develop new ideas and approaches to outreach to students  
• Keep track of trends and common questions to develop new material and programming

Student peer leader to work within the Spiritual Care and Learning Centre, involving welcoming/greeting students who enter for appointments, programs or daily practices of prayer/meditation.

Responsibilties

• Ensuring the rooms are prepared for meditation, prayer or small group meetings
• Helping with promotion of events (on line and posters around campus)
• Ensuring the spaces are tidy and welcoming
• Provisions of hospitality (tea, kosher/halal snacks etc).

• Location: MUSC 212
• Committment (Hours per week/ Event Participation): 3-5 hours per week 
• Some training to the mandate of the space will be required, along with EDI sensitivity.

Qualities looked for here are for students who enjoy and are good with people; intuitive to reading the moment of a space where people come and go; comfortable answering questions of the Centre, sensing when to provide a referral to the SCLC leadership, or when to give people space should the need be for quiet contemplation.
