Use SMART goals to prepare to make the most of any experiential learning opportunity

When setting goals, using the SMART framework helps ensure they are clear and achievable.

SMART is an acronym for:

  • Specific: Clearly define what you want to accomplish
  • Measurable: Identify how you will track progress and know when it’s complete
  • Achievable: Make sure the goal is realistic given your resources and constraints
  • Relevant: Align goal with your broader learning or career objectives
  • Time-bound: Set a deadline to stay focused and motivated

Sample SMART goals
