This opportunity is a joint initiative between the Student Success Centre and Student Financial Aid & Scholarships to allow undergraduate international students the occasion to gain valuable Canadian work experience within the University and beyond.

November 1, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET (MUSC Marketplace)The Exchange Fair is your opportunity to discover ways to expand your university journey across borders. Come to this event to chat with returned and current exchange students about their experiences studying abroad. Plus, learn how you can get started on your own global experience with the McMaster Exchange Program.
Language Café
November 1, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET (GH 110)Language Café brings together the languages of McMaster! Are you interested in learning about a new language and culture? Attend this peer-to-peer learning experience where you can participate in an introductory lesson about a language. Plus, you’ll get to learn a little bit about a different culture.
Exchange General Information Session
November 2, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET (Virtual)Join us for a general information session on the McMaster Exchange Program to learn about opportunities to study and research abroad. Applications for the 2023–2024 academic year open on November 1, with due dates for various programs coming up in December, January and March. Prospective exchange students must attend/watch the exchange general information session before applying (a recording will be available after the session).
Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) Information Session
November 2, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET (Virtual)Come learn about the study opportunities available at our exchange partner institution, the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), and why this exchange destination may be the perfect place for you. To study at the Université Grenoble Alpes, you must apply through the McMaster Exchange Program by the relevant deadline. In addition to this session, potential exchange students must attend an exchange general information session for specific application instructions. Please bring your questions.
Communicating Across Cultures
November 2, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET (GH 110)McMaster’s diverse community gives us a lot to celebrate — so many cultures, languages, perspectives and more. It also highlights the importance of intercultural communication, which allows us to connect with one another.
This interactive workshop will help give you a deeper understanding of what culture is and how it shapes us. Through this discussion, you’ll discover ways to become a better communicator.
Study Abroad Application Workshop: Study and Research Abroad
November 3, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET (MUSC B118)If studying or researching abroad is in your plans, then this workshop is for you. We’re offering a session to help you prepare your application for the McMaster Exchange Program. Plus, we’re also offering a budgeting workshop, drop-in office hours and resume reviews. An immigration advisor and representative from Career Access Professional Services (CAPS) will also be present to answer any personal questions you may have. A separate space for these conversations will be available.
Cultural Potluck
November 3, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET (GH 110)What is a potluck? It’s a communal gathering where each guest or group contributes a different, often homemade, dish of food to be shared. Come experience the cultural dishes of your fellow international and exchange students! The global team will bring treats from their cultures, plus some common Canadian dishes. We ask that you bring a dish from your home culture and come ready to try something new. Students can bring a homemade dish or one purchased from a restaurant or store.
Global Opportunities for Chemistry and Chemical Biology Students
November 3, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET (Virtual)Join Marisa Bachetti, global learning coordinator (study and research abroad), and Gillian Goward, professor in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology, for an information session to discover opportunities to study abroad. Learn about the McMaster Exchange Program application process and all the exciting options available to you. This session is designed for current second-year students planning to go abroad in their third year. However, all students are welcome. Please bring your questions. In addition to this session, potential exchange students must attend an exchange general information session for specific application instructions.

How to Highlight Your Global Experience: Resume and Cover Letter Workshop
November 7, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET (GH 110)Have you recently participated in a global experience studying, researching, working or volunteering abroad? Join us for a session to learn how to showcase these experiences on your resume and cover letter. We’ll share some practical tips on how to highlight your global skills to impress employers and hiring managers.
You don’t have to travel abroad to develop and expand your global perspective. Thinking globally is also about reflecting on issues than span country divides and considering how you can take action. This International Education Week, we’re reflecting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.
